I’m Mo, and I like to write. I also ask a lot of questions. This curiosity informs my versatile and compassionate approach to storytelling.
I’ve built my career around mission-driven work that engages communities: digitally producing a summer concert series in New York City, developing a library of accessible mental health resources that helps patients understand their care options, and directing a COVID-era video about university-led vaccine research. Today, I work as a Communications Specialist for the University of Alaska Anchorage's Office of Research, using writing, photography, and design to tell the stories behind research projects and connect them with the communities they serve. My work includes newsletters, workbooks, presentations, social media campaigns, and field photography documenting researchers and their work, from the Arctic to Oʻahu.
Alongside my writing, I’ve directed and produced a number of short films. My award-winning documentaries have screened in the U.S. and internationally, appearing on The New Yorker and Short of the Week. These films have also been recognized by The Webby Awards, Edmonton International Film Festival, High Line Nine, and Oregon Documentary Film Festival, among others.
